Game Console Generations-From The beginning

Game console generations are defined by the dominant game console in their market. Game console Industry is now so boosted up that after every few weeks there is a significant shift in the marketplace leader to a new hardware model, which signals a console generation. And if you enjoy playing video games at home, you are not alone, and if you are planning to have the console you might have a problem choosing between the different game consoles. Each year or you can say after a few months bring new choices and new games.

For a little processing word size was the best indicator of a generation shift, with clear divides between the 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit eras, but that has become increasingly less relevant as time has gone on and we’ve more or less hit the point of diminishing returns at 64-bit machines. First let me tell you about the history of game consoles generations:

Game systems in the first generation of video game consoles were introduced in 1972 through 1977. For the first generation there were only Space war and Computer space plus Odyssey and Pong. Although Odyssey and Pong consoles came with many games loaded default in it, but still that wasn’t enough. You couldn’t add any more games to your system a month or two later. Even so, the technology was hugely successful, and home entertainment was about to change forever.

Game designers wanted to solve the problem of consoles that were limited to playing just a few games as Odyssey were having only 12 games including Table Tennis, Cat and Mouse, Ski, Wipeout, Interplanetary Voyage, and more. Play was in black and white, and there was no sound. Second generation consoles, produced from 1976 to 1984, with as much solution as it can .For the second generation console there were games launched with a memory chip in it, it was a tiny silicon chip that contains all the important information or programming for game play. It was a hard plastic case that uses to have a small chip inside a cartridge which goes inside a game console. When it was inserted inside the console the microprocessor use to read it and the game begins.

By the year of 1977, there were a lot of companies introduced them self to the game industry including the giants Atari, Nintendo and Magnavox. Nintendo released its first home video game in Japan in 1977 and its first arcade game, Othello, in 1978.And the games that were produced were Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, and Mario Brothers, some are still that and probably your favorite.
In 1977 there was another company called Mattel toy company that launches handheld games that includes football, basketball, and baseball for the first time, it use to interchangeable game cartridges which was the micro vision. Lately it was released i1979 with a small screen and limited amount of games, as it was for the first time it’s screen and keypad use to damaged easily. Later in 1981 it was discontinued.
In the third generation of games, from 1983 to 1992, the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) was introduced and became a hit in the United States. The Super Mario became the star for Nintendo as it was a part of it. While in Brazil and other parts of Europe Sega was the most popular console.
In 1989, Atari launched the Lynx, it was the first color handheld game, and for the firt time it contains backlit screen. This was the same year when Nintendo Game Boy was launched.

The fourth generation of games era was from 1987 to 1996, it was called the 16-bit era. This bit is represented of a basic unit of information storage and communication. The more bit it contains, the more information or memory it can contain.
In 1980 Atari launches a home version of the Japanese video game called Space Invaders, and the success was all over to them. There are millions of people purchased the console to play the most popular arcade game that doubled the sales of Atari. The original console was called Atari 2600 followed with the advanced version called Atari 5200 and many other titles were also developed for it. It was the biggest hit of all time, and my childhood dream, were I use to request my parents daily to get me an Atari.
In history of gaming Console Atari was one of the most popular gaming system with over 30 million sales in the span of three decades. Although they even halted their manufacturing of the console in the year of early 1990’s. If you meet any of the person from that  era they will tell you amount of story they might be having regards the Atari Game Console.

Then come the Fourth generation handheld games include Sega Game Gear, 1990, and Game Boy Color, 1998.I hope you will be familiar with Sonic the Hedgehog. Sonic is the hero of a series of video games produced by Sega specially its speed and graphics it was a whole new series for that time people. Sonic also appears in cartoons, comics and books. In 2005 Sonic has received a large amount of respect, honored and achievements as a video game.

New consoles, including the Sega Dreamcast, Sony PlayStation 2, and Nintendo Game Cube, were released. The Microsoft Corporation entered the industry with its first video game console, the Xbox. The Xbox came with a new feature, a built-in hard drive that could be used to save games. In 2002, Microsoft released its online gaming service, Xbox Live. I still remember when I saw the demo of PlayStation I really wanted that so I went to sell my old console for cash, sell my Nintendo 3ds, sell my PSP , and sell my tablet and then I was having my PlayStation 2 which was a dream for me.

Then we can say from the very beginning till today the Gaming Industry has changes dramatically and no wonder what’s coming in the future, but we I can assure I thing that it’s always going to be better than before.
